Tamarind NZ Onshore is pleased to announce the return to full time production of the Company’s most prolific oil well. Cheal E-1 had experienced a seized rod string in December 2020, rendering the well unable to pump oil. Long-term wax build-up from the paraffinic oil was the culprit, a problem common to all wells in onshore New Zealand, but the intervention was far from routine. Engineering Manager Ryan Beierle commented; “Without the ability to import specialized work-over rig crews into New Zealand due to Covid border closings, we had to fix the well using a little Kiwi ingenuity. Large cranes were employed to pull the rod string out of the hole, where a service rig certainly would have made things a lot easier.” The well was returned to fulltime production by mid-January 2021, a relief for Country Manager Drew Cadenhead; “When it’s our highest cash-flowing well that goes down, we’re grateful our team put on their thinking caps and found a way to bring the well back.”
